615 - Funguy the bird was created in response to my April art prompts challenge where each day of the month I created a new artwork. The prompt for this work was fungi which was very exciting as I am kind of obsessed with everything fungi. I was inspired to create this artwork in response to some fluffy white mushrooms I have a picture of. The fungi on the bird was inspired by wasp fungus which enters the body of its host and then grows from it. Do you ever contemplate the continuity of life after death and how we are all a part of the same circle? We are all made of the same organic matter that is reimagined as it morphs from one living organism to the next. Fungi is a huge part of that cycle which inspired this work.
